About LLM Program:

The LL.M. program at Xavier Law School is designed to provide law graduates and lawyers with a comprehensive understanding of the contemporary challenges in the law field. The curriculum is carefully crafted to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application through a range of teaching methods such as classroom lectures, discussions, seminars, case studies, and master classes.

The program emphasizes the exploration of legal responses to these challenges and encourages students to critically evaluate and critique existing practices. By doing so, students gain a deeper understanding of the field and develop the skills necessary to propose improvements to current legal frameworks. This approach ensures that graduates are equipped with the ability to address real-world issues in the various law domains like corporate and Commercial law, constitutional law and criminal law etc.

Duration:

LLM is a one-year programme spread over two semesters.

Eligibility for Admission:

Minimum eligibility norm is a LLB degree with a minimum 55% or equivalent letter grade on the last date of application.

Mode of admission:

Admissions are done by a written test (M-XLET) followed by personal interview.

  • The Corporate & Commercial Law (specialisation) program offers specialized papers focusing on key aspects of Corporate and Commercial Law, covering topics such as Corporate Governance, Capital Markets and Securities Law, International Trade Law and Commercial Transactions, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law, Arbitration, and Competition Law.
  • The Constitutional Law (specialisation) program offers specialized papers    focusing on key aspects like Constitutionalism: Pluralism & Federalism, Indian Constitutional Law- The New Challenges and Administrative Process and Judicial Control etc.
  • The Criminal Law (specialisation) program offers specialized papers focusing on key aspects like Criminal Jurisprudence, Criminology and criminal justice administration, Penology and Victimology etc.

ELIGIBILITY:

Admission to the B.A. LLB (H) and B.B.A. LLB (H) programmes are open to the following categories of students:

SELECTION CRITERIA

Final selection of the students shall be done purely on merit which shall be decided on the basis of academic performance in class 10 and class 12 examinations, valid Entrance Test score – CLAT/AILET/XLET and Personal Interview.

Admission Procedure:

Applicants are required to fill-up the application form online at: www.xub.edu.in . Upon successfully filling the online application form and paying the relevant application fee, the applicant will be intimated by email about the acceptance of the form.

Total programme is of 30 credits spread across two semesters. XLS proposes to offer specialization in Corporate Law, Constitutional Law* & Criminal Law*. (proposed).
