SEP & FRAND Litigation in India

Expert Session on “SEP & FRAND Litigation in India”

Xavier Law School, XIM University, organised a mandatory expert session on “SEP & FRAND Litigation in India” on 1 October 2026 for the fourth- and fifth-year students of the School.

The session was conducted by Dr. Victor Vaibhav Tandon, Associate Partner, Srikrishna & Associates, who provided students with valuable insights into the evolving legal landscape surrounding Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) and Fair, Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) licensing.

The session focused on the legal and practical dimensions of SEP and FRAND disputes in India, including the complexities involved in patent licensing, enforcement, negotiations, and litigation. Dr. Tandon discussed the emerging challenges faced by patent holders and implementers and highlighted the role of courts in balancing intellectual property rights with fair access to standardised technologies.

The session was conducted in virtual mode from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with students participating from CR-6 and CR-7. The programme served as a valuable academic and professional learning experience for the participating students.
